João Fonseca of Brazil defeated Novak Djokovic at Roland Garros in a stunning five-set comeback, 4-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, 7-5. The match lasted over five hours.

Djokovic, far from his best form, took the first two sets, but Fonseca, 19, turned the tide to claim the third and then power through the fourth and fifth sets. Brazil hasn't seen a major tennis star since Gustavo Kuerten's three French Open titles in the late 90s and early 2000s. Fonseca now faces Norway's Casper Ruud in the fourth round.

In another upset, world number one Jannik Sinner was eliminated by Argentina's Francisco Cerúndolo after struggling with heat illness. Cerúndolo won the last two sets 6-1 each and chose not to celebrate out of respect for Sinner, who entered the tournament on a 30-match winning streak.
