Cesena goalkeeper Jonathan Klinsmann will miss the rest of the season after fracturing his spine during a Serie B match. The injury jeopardizes his potential inclusion in the U.S. World Cup squad.

Klinsmann, son of former Germany international Juergen Klinsmann, confirmed the indefinite recovery period on social media. He had been a potential U.S. squad member following a strong campaign in Italy, though he remains uncapped.

The U.S. national team is scheduled to open its World Cup campaign on June 12.
