Jannik Sinner defeated Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-4 in the Miami Open final on Sunday to become the first man to capture the coveted 'Sunshine Double' without dropping a set.

The Italian world number two won 92% of his first-serve points and saved all three break points he faced. His victory extended his streak of Masters 1000 matches without surrendering a set to 17.

Sinner, who played with a soccer ball during a 90-minute rain delay, broke early and relied on his serve to close out the first set.

After the second-set rain delay, Lehecka fought back to take a 4-3 lead but Sinner regained control, converting his sixth break point opportunity to win 5-4.

He sealed the title with a forehand volley on his first championship point.

This marks the first time since Roger Federer in 2017 that a player has won both Indian Wells and Miami titles consecutively, known as the 'Sunshine Double'.

Sinner joins an elite list that includes Novak Djokovic, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, and others.
