BRIGHTON, England - Danny Welbeck struck twice to lead Brighton & Hove Albion to a 2-1 Premier League victory over reigning champions Liverpool at the Amex Stadium.

The former Manchester United forward opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a header from Diego Gomez’s cross, then restored Brighton’s lead after halftime with a VAR-confirmed tap-in.

Liverpool, winless in their last three games, remain fifth with 49 points, their title defense faltering. Hugo Ekitike departed early with an injury, compounding the blow.

Meanwhile, Everton surged into seventh with a dominant 3-0 win over Chelsea, thanks to two goals from Portuguese striker Beto and a stunning finish by Iliman Ndiaye.

Fulham also advanced, coming back to beat struggling Burnley 3-1 with goals from Josh King, Harry Wilson, and Raul Jimenez.

The results intensify the race for European qualification across the Premier League.
