Augusta National Golf Club reportedly ejected former major champion Mark Calcavecchia this week for violating the Masters' strict no-phone policy.

Calcavecchia, winner of the 1989 Open Championship, did not deny using his phone on the grounds, an action that leads to automatic dismissal.

While not a Masters champion, Calcavecchia participated in the event 18 times between 1987 and 2008, finishing second in 1988. Winners of the other three majors receive a five-year Masters exemption and lifetime honorary invites.

Augusta National's official website states that "any device for phone calls, emails, text messaging, or to record and/or transmit voice, video or data is strictly prohibited." The course does offer designated phone banks for necessary calls.

The policy underscores the unique atmosphere and mystique of the Masters, emphasizing a focus on the present moment.
