The Miami RedHawks men's basketball team completed an undefeated regular season, becoming just the fifth NCAA Division I program this century to do so. They secured the historic 31-0 record with a thrilling 110-108 overtime victory against Ohio.
Eian Elmer led the RedHawks with a career-high 32 points, while guard Peter Suder contributed five points in overtime, including the decisive shots. Jackson Paveletzke scored a career-high 37 points for Ohio in the losing effort.
With their perfect record, the RedHawks enter the March basketball tournament with their NCAA tournament bid not yet guaranteed. Athletic Director David Sayler emphasized the significance of an undefeated season, questioning the value of the regular season if it doesn't lead to tournament consideration for such a team.
The team secured the No. 1 seed in their conference tournament and will open play against UMass. A conference tournament win would grant them an automatic bid to the national tournament, while a loss would complicate their chances for an at-large bid.
