Mexico's sports chief Rommel Pacheco announced Saturday that the World Diving Cup, previously cancelled in Zapopan, Jalisco, due to security concerns, will be rescheduled. Pacheco, head of Mexico's National Sports Commission (CONADE), stated the competition is now in a rescheduling phase, with a new date to be confirmed.

World Aquatics had announced the cancellation of the March 5-8 event, citing travel restrictions prompted by increased violence following the capture and death of cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera, known as "El Mencho." The recent unrest has fueled broader concerns regarding Mexico's capacity to host international sporting events.

Despite these challenges, President Claudia Sheinbaum affirmed on Tuesday that security measures would be reviewed, asserting "no risk" to fans attending the World Cup later this year. Qualification for the Diving World Cup Super Final in Beijing was to be determined by results from a Montreal event.
