PARIS - Paris Saint-Germain secured a decisive 2-0 victory over Liverpool in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday. Goals from Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia propelled the holders to a commanding lead ahead of the return fixture at Anfield.

Doue opened the scoring with a deflected shot, and Kvaratskhelia doubled the advantage with a remarkable solo effort. PSG controlled much of the match, mixing patient possession with sharp attacking bursts, despite missing several opportunities to extend their lead further. Liverpool, struggling to contain PSG's intensity, managed only a single shot on target throughout the game.

Arne Slot’s side adopted a cautious approach, but PSG's attacking prowess proved too much. The French champions created numerous chances, with Ousmane Dembele and Nuno Mendes also going close. Liverpool now faces an uphill battle to overturn the deficit in the second leg.
