During the St. Louis Cardinals' 5-4 win over the Kansas City Royals Friday night, fans in the ninth inning moved to an empty right-field section and removed their shirts. What started with about 100 fans swelled into a packed section of shirtless supporters by extra innings.

Caleb Cummings, a 20-year-old Stephen F. Austin club baseball player, came up with the idea. Bryce Bradford was the first to remove his shirt, and soon fans of all ages followed.

In the bottom of the 11th, Yohel Pozo hit a pinch-hit walk-off single, and the shirtless crew erupted. It was the Cardinals' fourth walk-off win this season. Manager Oli Marmol praised the fans' energy, saying, "Whoever started that in right field, I'll do whatever I need to do to make sure they come to every game."
