Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek has hired Francisco Roig after splitting with coach Wim Fissette following a shocking Miami Open loss to world number 50 Magda Linette.

The six-time Grand Slam winner announced the change on Instagram, welcoming the Spanish coach for what she called an exciting new chapter.

Roig brings extensive experience, having worked with Rafael Nadal during 16 Grand Slam victories and later coaching Emma Raducanu, though that partnership lasted only six months.

Swiatek has struggled this season with quarterfinal exits at the Australian Open, Qatar Open, and Indian Wells before the Miami disappointment.

The 24-year-old Polish player targets her fifth French Open title when the tournament begins next month.
