Top seed Jannik Sinner is out of the French Open after a stunning second-round collapse. Battling dizziness in the Paris heatwave, the 24-year-old lost to 56th-ranked Juan Manuel Cerundolo 3-6, 2-6, 7-5, 6-1, 6-1 on Thursday.

Sinner’s 30-match winning streak came to an abrupt halt as he bent over the clay in exhaustion, barely able to run. He admitted he “didn’t feel very well on court” and felt “very dizzy, very low on energy.”

Leading by two sets and 5-1, Sinner seemed in control. But he then asked for medical assistance and left the court. Upon returning, his drink was fortified with minerals, but he never recovered.

Cerundolo called himself “a little bit lucky,” adding, “I feel sorry for him and hope he recovers.”
