Adidas has unveiled the Trionda, the match ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring sensor technology that transmits real-time data to referees at 500 times per second. This ball marks a significant innovation in match officiating, with an embedded 500 Hz inertial measurement unit sensor developed alongside Kinexon and FIFA, enhancing accuracy in offside and goal-line decisions.

Representing a historic first, the Trionda has a four-panel design inspired by the colors of the host nations: Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Aerodynamic tests indicate it reaches a significant “drag crisis” at about 27 mph, affecting flight behavior. The ball utilizes wireless inductive charging, lasting approximately six hours per full charge, necessitating careful logistical management during the tournament.

Adidas previously introduced Connected Ball Technology with the Al Rihla during the 2022 World Cup. The Trionda advances this system, enabling VAR officials to make accurate calls using sensor data. While the Trionda lacks blockchain features, Kraken serves as the Official Crypto Exchange Supporter, promoting engagement through cryptocurrency tokens tied to national teams, though these tokens often exhibit volatile market behavior.
