Sami Zayn shocked the wrestling world Saturday night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, winning the Undisputed WWE Championship.

In a triple-threat match at Night of Champions, Zayn defeated defending champion Cody Rhodes and challenger Gunther. WWE broadcaster Michael Cole called the victory "a miracle in Riyadh."

The match concluded when Rhodes attempted his finishing move, Cross Rhodes, on Zayn. Zayn escaped, reversed Rhodes into a pinning combination, and secured the three-count victory.

"A lot of folks said I would never win the WWE championship," Zayn said emotionally afterward. "I stand here tonight in front of my people in Riyadh. It is hard to believe."

This marks Zayn's first world championship in his over twenty-year career. The win also makes him a WWE Grand Slam Champion.

The emotional victory was met with a thunderous ovation from the Saudi Arabian crowd. After the match, an irate Gunther had a physical confrontation with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis backstage.
