Veteran skip Mike McEwen has joined Rylan Kleiter’s curling team, filling a vacancy left by Matthew Hall’s departure.
The 45-year-old Winnipeg resident will play third for the new-look Team Mike McEwen, with Kleiter moving from skip to third, Trevor Johnson at lead, and Joshua Mattern at second.
McEwen, a 10-time Montana’s Brier competitor and four-time Canadian Trials participant, recently missed the Brier playoffs in St. John’s with a 5-3 record. He remains ranked No. 14 in men’s world curling; Kleiter’s team was ranked 30th.
The move follows McEwen’s departure last week from a team featuring Colton Flasch, Dan Marsh and Kevin Marsh-and comes amid broader off-season realignment, including John Epping’s new Manitoba-based rink with B.J. Neufeld, Ryan Wiebe and Ian McMillan.
