Max Verstappen's long-time Formula One race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, is leaving Red Bull to join McLaren. Insiders confirmed the move, which is expected to see Lambiase take a supporting role to team principal Andrea Stella, likely starting in 2028 after a period of gardening leave.

Lambiase has worked with Verstappen since 2016, playing a crucial role in the driver's four world championships. His departure, along with other key personnel and Red Bull's recent performance dip, raises questions about Verstappen's future in the sport, especially given his past statements about only working with Lambiase.

McLaren, who have been successful in recent seasons, already have former Red Bull employees Rob Marshall and Will Courtenay in senior positions.
