WNBA broadcaster Kate Scott came to the defense of Caitlin Clark after critics targeted her high turnover rate to start the 2026 season.
Clark averaged roughly five turnovers per game in her first three contests after battling injuries that cut her sophomore season short. In a fourth quarter against Seattle, Scott pushed back after a colleague noted Clark’s turnover count.
“I looked things up, just compared to the NBA... Nikola Jokic, about 10 assists per game, four turnovers a game. Cade Cunningham, about 9.5 assists per game, four turnovers a game. So, calm down everybody,” Scott said.
Clark finished that game with 10 assists and five turnovers, scoring 19 points. She has never led the league in turnovers. Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese currently leads with 5.3 per game.
Indiana plays Portland on Tuesday.
