Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody was stretchered off the court Monday night after suffering a severe leg injury during overtime against the Dallas Mavericks.
Moody stole the ball and drove for a dunk when his knee buckled mid-air. He crashed hard to the floor, immediately grabbing his leg in pain.
Medical staff attended to him for several minutes. Head coach Steve Kerr said Moody was undergoing X-rays and described the moment as deeply distressing.
"Saw him go down in a heap, in pain," Kerr said. "We don’t know what it is, but it sure looked bad. Just hoping for the best."
Moody had returned from a wrist sprain and was leading the Warriors with 23 points and three steals before the incident. Teammates compared the injury to Jimmy Butler’s ACL tear earlier this season.
The Warriors went on to win 137-131. They remain in contention for the Western Conference play-in tournament.
