INDIAN WELLS, California - Alexander Zverev is embracing a more aggressive playing style this year, believing it will finally unlock his Grand Slam title aspirations.
The German star, known for his powerful serve, has historically played conservatively in major tournaments, often giving opponents openings. Now, the 28-year-old is prepared to take risks, even if it means occasional losses, as he adapts.
"It's exciting, but it will take time," Zverev stated after his recent third-round victory at Indian Wells. He highlighted the importance of his aggressive play in winning a crucial tiebreak, signaling a potential shift in his approach.
Despite a surprising loss in Acapulco with the new strategy, Zverev remains resolute. A seven-time Masters 1000 champion, he demonstrated significant resilience in a lengthy Australian Open semi-final earlier this year. He expressed optimism about his chances at Indian Wells, citing the tournament's faster hard courts.
Zverev is set to face either American Frances Tiafoe or Italy's Flavio Cobolli in his next match.
