Japanese trading giant Itochu announced a capital and business alliance with U.S.-based Electronic Recyclers International (ERI) to launch a joint venture called ERI Japan.
The new entity will specialize in recycling IT equipment, targeting the recovery of precious metals and critical materials from electronic devices.
The move strengthens Japan’s domestic resource-recycling infrastructure amid growing geopolitical tensions that threaten supply chains for key tech materials.
