Amazon founder Jeff Bezos predicts artificial intelligence will create a global labor shortage rather than displace workers. Speaking at the VivaTech conference in Paris, Bezos argued that AI removes barriers to human ambition, unlocking new opportunities and increasing demand for human labor across sectors.
Bezos highlighted his new venture, Prometheus, which focuses on accelerating physical manufacturing through automation. He contends that properly developed AI offers transformative potential, allowing workers to benefit directly from significant productivity gains.
Turning to space exploration, Bezos outlined a strategy for a permanent lunar presence rather than temporary visits. He described space as supply-constrained and identified the Moon as a critical hub for resources like electrolysis-derived rocket fuel. This vision supports humanity's long-term expansion beyond Earth.
Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp confirmed reconstruction is underway following a recent launch pad explosion. Critical fuel systems survived intact, and the company expects launches to resume before year-end as it competes with SpaceX for commercial lunar infrastructure contracts.

The conference also showcased AI moving into the physical world. Unitree’s humanoid robot demonstrated cognitive control via EEG technology developed with French neuro-AI firm HABS. This integration signals a broader industry shift toward machines capable of working alongside humans in healthcare and manufacturing.
