Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its first all-electric G-Wagon, the G580 with EQ Technology. This new model aims to preserve the iconic G-Wagon's rugged off-road prowess while embracing electric innovation.

The G580 retains the signature boxy, utilitarian design, distinguishing it from softer luxury SUV rivals. Despite its imposing presence, the vehicle offers a luxurious cabin with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, advanced driver assistance systems, and premium materials.

Powering the G580 are four electric motors, delivering 587 horsepower and 1,164 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.7 seconds. The vehicle features a claimed range of up to 491 km. Mercedes-Benz has also introduced an artificial "G-Roar" sound to emulate a V8 engine, which can be deactivated.

Innovative features include "G-Turn," allowing the vehicle to spin 360 degrees on the spot for extreme maneuverability, and "G-Steer," which aids in tight turns by reversing the inside rear wheel. These technologies are designed for off-road scenarios but add a unique dimension to the G-Wagon's capabilities.
