U.S. memory chipmaker Micron Technology announced plans to build a second manufacturing facility at its newly acquired Tongluo site in Taiwan. The new plant will expand production of leading-edge DRAM, including high-bandwidth memory (HBM), to meet surging demand from artificial intelligence applications.
The company confirmed it has completed the acquisition of Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp.’s Tongluo P5 site. The new facility will be comparable in scale to Micron’s existing fabrication plant in Miaoli County.
Construction is set to begin by the end of fiscal 2026.
