Omni Analytics has closed a $120 million funding round, valuing the company at $1.5 billion. The Series C investment was led by ICONIQ, with participation from Alphabet's GV and Redpoint Ventures.

Omni's platform replaces traditional manual data preparation and SQL queries with a chatbot interface. Users can generate data visualizations by describing the information they need and then ask follow-up questions for deeper insights.

The platform also offers a SQL editor and a spreadsheet interface that automatically syncs with data sources like Snowflake, eliminating manual updates when original data changes.

To address ambiguities in AI queries, Omni employs a "semantic model" that provides definitions for business terms, ensuring the AI interprets user requests accurately. For example, it clarifies whether a request for "store sales" refers to physical locations or e-commerce.

Omni's AI uses shared definitions from this semantic layer to answer questions and respects granular security, showing its reasoning. A context modeling feature allows users to make data definitions available for external AI models and specify how to run SQL queries.

Developers can integrate Omni-powered data visualizations into custom software. The company reports its revenue tripled over the past year, with customers including Perplexity AI and dbs Labs.
