Two 14-year-old students in Edmonton have been charged with using artificial intelligence to sexually exploit female classmates. The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit accuses the boys of obtaining photos without consent and manipulating them with AI software to create child sexual exploitation material.

Police identified multiple victims at an Edmonton junior high school after a teacher reported student complaints in late March 2026. Investigators from the Edmonton Police Service Child Protection Section and the Zebra Centre collaborated on the case, while the Saffron Centre provides ongoing victim support.

The suspects face charges of making and possessing child sexual exploitation materials and voyeurism as of June 1. Authorities note this is the second recent school-related AI exploitation investigation in Alberta, following a similar charge against a Calgary high school student in December 2025.

Law enforcement emphasizes that investigations into AI-generated abuse are ongoing and urges anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
