Tesla delivered mixed results for Q1 2026, showing 6.3% sales growth while production jumped 12.6%. The company built 408,386 electric vehicles but sold only 358,023, creating significant inventory issues.
Models 3 and Y drove production with 394,611 units manufactured, up 14.2% year-over-year. However, sales of these models reached just 341,893 vehicles, leaving Tesla with 50,000 excess units in inventory.
Sales of other vehicles including Cybertruck, Model S, and Model X dropped 19.7% to 13,775 units. The aging Model S production ended after 14 years, matching Nissan GT-R's legendary longevity.
Tesla's energy storage business also declined, deploying only 8.8 GWh in Q1, down 15% from last year. Both vehicle deliveries and energy storage figures missed analyst expectations.
