The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will host a critical autonomous vehicle safety forum on Tuesday. The summit will feature the CEOs of leading self-driving companies, including Waymo, Zoox, and Aurora.

The meeting aims to accelerate robotaxi deployment while addressing regulatory hurdles and scrutinizing safety protocols. Alphabet-unit co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana, Amazon's Zoox CEO Aicha Evans, and Aurora CEO Chris Urmson are expected to attend. NHTSA is exploring new guidance for the safe development, testing, and deployment of self-driving vehicles, with a focus on remote assistance in robotaxis.
