Ubisoft is launching "Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced" on July 9th, a remake of its popular 2013 pirate title. This marks the video game giant's first major release following a profit warning issued in January.
The company's market capitalization has plummeted 93% from its 2018 peak, with an expected operating loss of €1 billion in 2026 due to game cancellations. Analysts suggest a successful launch is critical, stating, "But they can't afford to disappoint."
Developed primarily by Ubisoft Singapore, "Black Flag Resynced" will feature updated graphics, new gameplay mechanics, and an expanded story. Grammy-nominated artist Woodkid is returning for the soundtrack.
The game will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC at a price of €59.99. This strategic move mirrors Capcom's revival of its "Resident Evil" franchise, which saw significant financial recovery through successful remakes and new entries, leading to over a decade of operating profit growth.
