WhatsApp is rolling out a significant update to its group chat functionality, enabling new members to access past conversations. The new feature, "Group Message History," allows existing members and administrators to share up to 100 recent messages with individuals joining a group for the first time.

This development addresses a long-standing user frustration, particularly in groups coordinating events or sharing information where new participants previously had no context. Administrators and group members can opt to share this history, streamlining onboarding and reducing the need for repetitive message resending.

To address privacy concerns, the feature limits access to the 100 most recent messages. Additionally, administrators retain the ability to disable this sharing capability for regular members, allowing them to control who can grant access to chat history. All group participants will be notified when chat history is shared with a new member, ensuring transparency within the conversation.
