Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand has formally requested an investigation from Israel following the death of a Canadian citizen in Lebanon.
Anand's spokeswoman confirmed that Israel's foreign ministry has promised an investigation after Global Affairs Canada issued a démarche to Israeli Ambassador Iddo Moed.
The family of Hassan Haidar, 38, from Windsor, Ontario, states an Israeli drone strike killed him in Lebanon during the ongoing military campaign.
Canada expects "a full and transparent investigation" into the death, which Anand described as a matter of "extreme concern."
Canada has urged Israel to respect Lebanese sovereignty and civilians as the conflict continues.
