A small aircraft crashed into CITIC Tower, Beijing’s tallest building, on the evening of June 26. The impact left a hole in the skyscraper’s facade, showered debris onto the streets below, and triggered a full evacuation of the 109-story structure.

The building, also known as China Zun, is a 528-meter landmark in Beijing's central business district. It serves as the headquarters for the state-owned CITIC Group. Reports indicate people inside sustained injuries; the full scope is under investigation.

The aircraft was identified as a Sunward SA-60L Aurora, a light-sport model made in China. Emergency crews responded quickly, clearing the building floor by floor. Authorities cordoned off the area.

Investigators are now focused on determining the cause, whether an accident, mechanical failure, or another factor. No official cause has been announced.
