An eight-year-old Australian girl has died following a snowmobile accident in Hakuba Valley, Japan. Chloe Jeffries, from the Gold Coast, was riding with her mother when the vehicle overturned, trapping her underneath. She was airlifted to hospital but could not be saved.

Tour operator Hakuba Lion Adventure stated the vehicle flipped on a forest road embankment. Police are investigating the incident. This marks the fourth Australian fatality at a Japanese ski resort this year, following separate incidents involving skiers and a chairlift accident.
