China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated Beijing supports Iran in defending its sovereignty and urged the US and Israel to cease military operations, as conflict escalates across the Middle East.
Wang Yi told his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, that Beijing supports Tehran defending its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. He called on the US and Israel to "immediately cease military operations" and prevent further escalation.
In separate calls, Wang accused the US and Israel of violating the UN charter and warned against major powers arbitrarily attacking other countries. He emphasized the need for a political and diplomatic settlement to the Iranian nuclear issue.
