Canada has announced a pledge of $37.7 million in humanitarian aid for civilians in Lebanon. The funding aims to provide critical assistance as the country becomes ensnared in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

The aid will be distributed through United Nations agencies, the Red Cross, and Canadian branches of International Medical Corps, Humanity and Inclusion, and Oxfam Quebec. This funding will support the provision of food, medical services, shelter, and clean water.
"This conflict has placed enormous strain on the Lebanese people, who have unwillingly been drawn into the violence," stated Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand. Nearly 700,000 people in Lebanon have reportedly been displaced by recent hostilities.

Canada has urged both sides to de-escalate and engage in dialogue, emphasizing its support for Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The announcement comes as Israel indicates potential expansion of military operations in Lebanon.
