Australian police have shot and killed Dezi Freeman, a 56-year-old conspiracy theorist, after a seven-month manhunt. Freeman was sought for the murder of two police officers near Mount Buffalo in August. Police surrounded a structure on a rural property and engaged in a three-hour standoff before the fatal encounter.
Formal identification is pending, but police suspect he was armed with a gun possibly taken from one of the slain officers and was assisted while on the run.
Senior Constable Vadim De Waart and Detective Neal Thompson were killed during an initial search operation last August.
