Euronews journalist Lilly Douse was traveling from Dubai International Airport when an Iranian drone attacked the vicinity of the compound. Douse, already on board her flight, was among passengers evacuated and directed to seek immediate shelter.
Eyewitnesses reported black smoke and a loud boom following the attack. Dubai International (DXB) temporarily suspended operations for passenger and crew safety. Douse described the scene as hectic as she and others rushed to an underground shelter. Airport staff worked to keep people calm during the stressful situation.
After approximately an hour, passengers were allowed to return to their gates. The airport resumed operations shortly after the incident, with thousands of travelers affected by previous closures during the Iran war. Douse was able to board her flight to Cape Town successfully on her second attempt.
