KABUL: Heavy rains triggered deadly flash floods across Afghanistan, killing 22 people and injuring 32 over the past two days.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported the worst impacts in Parwan, Maidan Wardak, Daykundi, and Logar provinces, where homes collapsed in rural and mountainous areas.

The country remains vulnerable to climate-related disasters. With international aid drastically reduced since the Taliban takeover in 2021, recovery efforts are severely hampered.

A recent UNDP report noted that floods, droughts, and earthquakes have destroyed nearly 8,000 homes in 2025, straining public services beyond capacity.
