Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz announced Tuesday that Iranian security chief Ali Larijani was killed in an overnight Israeli strike.
The operation targeted multiple sites across Iran, according to Israeli officials. Larijani, a former nuclear negotiator and close ally of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was among the intended targets.
He would be the highest-ranking Iranian official killed since the war began, if confirmed. Iran has not yet responded to the claim.
Earlier Friday, the U.S. announced a US$10 million reward for information on Larijani and nine other senior Iranian military and intelligence figures linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Israeli media also reported strikes aimed at Gholamreza Soleimani, head of the Basij Resistance Force, though outcomes remain unverified.
