RAMALLAH, The West Bank - Israeli airstrikes killed at least three people in Gaza and two others in the West Bank on Monday, according to local health officials.

An Israeli missile struck near the Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City, killing three and wounding two. The Israeli military confirmed the strike targeted a Hamas armed cell deemed a threat to its operations in northern Gaza.

Since the war in Gaza began in October 2023, over 72,000 people have died. Violence continues despite a US-brokered ceasefire signed more than five months ago. At least 50 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since Iran’s involvement escalated a month prior.

In the West Bank, Israeli forces shot dead a 22-year-old man near Hebron. Palestinian sources identified him as Ramzi Awawada, accusing soldiers of denying medical aid and seizing his body.

The Israeli military claimed the man rushed troops with a knife. Separately, soldiers near Tulkarm opened fire on a Palestinian driver who allegedly accelerated toward them. The army said he was neutralized without injury to personnel.

Human rights observers report increased settler attacks in the West Bank, exploiting reduced mobility due to the Iran conflict. At least five Palestinians have been killed by settlers since late February, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.
