Two civilian contractors delivering water for the UN children's fund (UNICEF) were killed by Israeli troops in northern Gaza on Friday. UNICEF stated it is "outraged" by the deaths, describing the individuals as drivers contracted to provide clean water.

The Israeli military reported troops observed "two armed terrorists in the area of the Yellow Line" approaching and opened fire. The army stated the incident is currently under review.

UNICEF identified the location as the Mansoura water filling point, the sole operational truck filling point for the Mekorot water supply line serving Gaza City. The incident, which also injured two others, occurred during routine operations. Activities at the filling point have been suspended.

UNICEF emphasized that humanitarian workers and critical infrastructure must not be targeted, and the protection of those delivering aid is an obligation under international humanitarian law.
