Residents across British Columbia face a cold, wet, and windy start to the week as a potent atmospheric river moves ashore.

Environment Canada has issued widespread warnings for Metro Vancouver, the Sunshine Coast, Howe Sound, central coast, and Vancouver Island. Up to 150 millimetres of rain is expected by Wednesday - with flooding and rapid river rises likely.
Wind gusts near 110 km/h will batter the central coast and parts of Vancouver Island tonight. The north coast - from Kitimat to Terrace - faces up to 30 centimetres of snow before a shift to heavy rain and 70 mm of precipitation.
