Sentencing proceedings have commenced for Jennifer Lynn Stephens, a Langley resident who pleaded guilty to seventeen counts of human sex trafficking. Crown prosecutors are recommending a thirteen-year prison term.

Court evidence, including video documentation from a March 2023 hotel incident, detailed a prolonged and violent assault. The footage showed the victim subjected to severe physical trauma over a four-hour period before successfully contacting emergency services.

The investigation, which concluded with Stephens' guilty plea in January 2025, involved multiple victims, including a minor. Two survivors will present victim impact statements as the court weighs the final sentence. The proceedings highlight the ongoing judicial focus on dismantling exploitation networks and holding perpetrators accountable for violent coercion.
