Russia launched a massive and virtually nonstop aerial assault on Kyiv over the last two days, Ukrainian officials say. More than 1,500 drones and over 50 missiles were fired, leveling residential buildings and killing at least seven people. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported 20 more are missing.
Zelenskyy said air defenses intercepted 94% of the drones but only 73% of the missiles. He accused Russia of stockpiling weapons to coincide with President Trump's visit to China, calling it a deliberate tactic to disrupt the political atmosphere.
Other cities under fire included Odesa, Kharkiv, Rivne, and Ivano-Frankivsk.

Separately, President Putin suggested the war may be nearing its end after more than four years. Trump echoed that sentiment before departing for China. Zelenskyy dismissed the notion, stating Russia must take the first step toward a real ceasefire.
