Up to 70 UK citizens have reportedly been detained in the UAE for sharing images of recent Iranian attacks on social media. Human rights advocate Radha Stirling estimates the number could reach over 100. However, the UK's FCDO states they are only assisting a 'small number' of Britons detained. Ms. Stirling noted many were unaware of UAE's strict cybercrime laws and were sharing updates out of concern for safety.

Ms. Stirling emphasized that the UAE's laws are draconian and could result in severe punishments, including life imprisonment, even for those sharing personal messages with loved ones.
