According to police, the woman claimed the airline denied her boarding because she lacked the necessary documentation for the dog as a service animal. She reportedly told officers the dog had a tracking device and implied it was acceptable to leave it behind. The woman was also charged with resisting arrest.

The dog, nicknamed Jet Blue by authorities, was taken in by Animal Protective Services and subsequently placed with a charity inundated with adoption applications.
