Indonesian police have arrested 13 people in Yogyakarta after images of alleged child abuse at the Little Aresha daycare center went viral, causing national outrage. Officials confirmed the authenticity of CCTV footage showing children, some under two, bound with rags on the floor. Police also discovered 20 children crammed into a small room.

Those arrested include 11 child carers, the headmaster, and the foundation head, facing charges of child neglect. They claim understaffing and the need to prevent disturbances. The center housed about 100 children, with over half potentially maltreated. One parent described his child being found tied up, expressing deep anguish. The Minister for Women's Empowerment and Child Protection condemned the abuse, emphasizing shared responsibility for child protection and calling for firm legal action. The suspects face potential imprisonment and fines under Indonesia's child protection law.
