Another U.S. state has banned tianeptine, a substance increasingly known as 'gas station heroin,' amid growing national concern over its dangerous effects.

FDA Commissioner Martin Makary labeled tianeptine a "dangerous and growing health trend," citing reports of addiction, severe withdrawal, and life-threatening overdoses-especially when mixed with opioids or other drugs.

The unregulated supplement, often sold alongside energy drinks and snacks in convenience stores, mimics opioid effects and has drawn scrutiny from public health agencies nationwide.
