While an Angus Reid survey indicates nearly eighty percent of Canadians support the existing MAID framework, hesitation is growing regarding expansion to psychiatric conditions. The committee faced internal division and criticism over alleged bias in witness selection. Justice Minister Sean Fraser confirmed he will review the recommendations and testimony this summer. Expansion is currently scheduled for next March, pending legislative approval.
