Toronto Public Health (TPH) has issued a notice regarding a potential measles exposure for travelers arriving at Pearson International Airport. The confirmed case involves individuals who were on two specific Avianca flights or present in Pearson's Terminal 1 Arrivals area on February 22.
Impacted travelers include those on Avianca Flight AV579 from Guatemala City to San Salvador, and Avianca Flight AV324 from San Salvador to Toronto. Passengers in Terminal 1 Arrivals between approximately 1:40 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. on the same date are also affected.
TPH advises anyone who believes they were exposed to check their vaccination records and monitor for symptoms, which can include fever, runny nose, red eyes, and a characteristic rash. Measles is highly contagious and spreads through the air and on surfaces.
