Target is voluntarily recalling select Up & Up brand baby wipes after FDA testing revealed bacterial contamination that could lead to serious infections, especially in infants.
According to an FDA notice dated June 5, the recall affects Up & Up Fragrance-Free and Fresh Cucumber Scented Baby Wipes, manufactured by Turkish firm Sapro Temizlik Urunleri.
Customer complaints reported skin and eye irritation, infections, and product discoloration. The FDA warned that use of the recalled wipes on newborns, infants, and young children-whose immune systems are still developing-could result in life-threatening conditions like sepsis or pneumonia.
Target is urging customers to stop using the products immediately and return them to any Target store for a full refund. The company stated it is coordinating with the manufacturer and continuing to investigate.
