Two Singapore Airlines passengers tested positive for measles after transiting through Singapore Changi Airport. Health officials confirmed the individuals contracted the virus prior to arrival and are not connected to any existing local measles cases.
The passengers, traveling from Hyderabad, India, remained in the airport's transit area for two hours before boarding a flight to Auckland. The Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) was notified of the cases, which involve individuals from the same household. Authorities stated the transit period did not overlap with a previous measles case involving another transit passenger earlier this month.
Singapore Airlines is cooperating with authorities and emphasizing the importance of vaccination and personal hygiene for travelers to prevent the spread of measles.
